U.S. Steel hit with another fine

The Allegheny County Health Department has levied a $707,568 fine against U.S. Steel for continued emissions problems at the Mon Valley Works Clairton Coke Works Facility.
The emissions issues occurred at the Clairton plant in the third and fourth quarter of last year.
Monday’s action marks the third civil penalty levied against U.S. Steel since June, totaling more than $2 million in fines.
This latest fine is separate from all other enforcement actions and legal matters that the health department and U.S. Steel have been involved in since the beginning of 2017, an ACHD release states.
