West Greene fills in, hammers Eagles

When Shady Side Academy was forced to postpone it’s Section 2-2A game at Serra Catholic, the Eagles were quick to find a replacement.
Perennial power West Greene never turns down the opportunity to play up in class, and the Pioneers delivered a knockout to the Eagles Thursday.
Serra Catholic hit the ball well, finishing with 11 hits, but a powerful offense led the way for the defending Class A state champion in a 15-4 six-inning win for the Pioneers at Lake Emilie Field.
“We have the utmost respect for (West Greene),” said Willaman. “We didn’t play well earlier in the week, but we hit the ball today like I thought we would all year. Regardless of the score, the effort was tremendous today.”
