Pennsylvania American Water will invest $13 million to replacing aging and undersized water mains in southern Allegheny County this year.
On Monday, the company announced the start of construction to replace more than 11 miles of aging water mains — some of which are more than 100 years old — to improve service reliability and fire protection for residents.
The upcoming pipeline improvements come on the heels of a $4 million tank project in Lincoln Borough that will be finished by early summer.
Work on a new 1.1-million-gallon water storage tank, which is being built along Bellbridge Road in Lincoln Borough, began in the summer of 2018.
