Two Mid-Mon Valley communities will soon benefit from a newly formed Westmoreland County demolition fund.
Dilapidated structures in Monessen and Rostraver Township were recently selected to be torn down in the first round of demolition.
County commissioners allocated $205,000 to have various commercial properties and blighted houses razed over the next year. The money will be paid to the county’s Redevelopment Authority, which will oversee the demolitions.
“This is needed to remove blight and create economic impact,” said Westmoreland County Planning Department Director Jason Rigone.
