Monessen man sentenced for sexual assault of child

A Monessen man accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old child has been sentenced to prison.
Jose Cortes, 27, of Oneida Street was slated to stand trial this week before Judge Valarie S. Costanzo in Washington County Court.
Instead, he pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and one count each of corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or older and endangering the welfare of children – parent/guardian/other commits offense.
Cortes was sentenced to four to 12 years in a state prison, followed by three years of “special probation,” according to court documents.
