Family members of a young Air Force sergeant from the Mon Valley who went missing after his plane was shot down in 1945 are getting support from area residents as they prepare to bring him home.
The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced several weeks ago that Army Air Force Sgt. Vernon L. Hamilton, 19, of Monongahela, was accounted for on Dec. 13, 2018.
Hamilton is the son of the late Dorothy (Bill) Larazzi and James Hamilton, and the brother of the late Jim and Vern Hamilton and Donna Hassel, who is his only living sibling.
