Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Kotula isn’t happy with state Rep. Bud Cook’s proposed changes to the county’s Local Share Account grant program.
Cook, R-West Pike Run Township, announced plans this week to introduce legislation that would alter the program’s approval process.
“As a member of the House Gaming Oversight Committee, I am deeply alarmed by the lack of transparency and potential conflicts of interest surrounding the LSA grant program,” Cook said.
Generated by the state’s casino gaming tax revenue, LSA funding disbursement regulation varies from county to county under current state law. Washington County requires a portion of the funding be awarded as grants through the state Department of Community and Economic Development for county public interest projects.
