Mark Black has made a routine out of driving the baseball a long way.
The Serra Catholic catcher hits them far in batting practice and can get a hold of one in a game as well.
But there is a difference between some of the home runs Black has hit in the past and the one he hit in the Eagles’ 10-1 win over Jeannette on Wednesday.
With Serra holding a comfortable 7-1 edge and two of his teammates on base, Black stepped up to the plate in the sixth inning against Jayhawks reliever Zander Malik.
Black made it a nine-run game with one forceful swing of the bat, hitting a towering shot over the left field fence that landed near the Youghiogheny River for his fourth home run of the season.
After the game, Dzurenda tracked the distance of Black’s blast, determining that it travelled an estimated distance of 420 feet.
