Thomas Howard Duttine – Laguna Hills, Calif., formerly of Charleroi
Thomas Duttine, 88, of Laguna Hills, Calif., formerly of Charleroi, passed away on Jan. 24, 2019, at Saddleback Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 3, 1930, son of the late Emma Nagy and Howard Duttine. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Agnes Zilka Duttine, of Laguna Hills, Calif. He was a 1948 graduate of Charleroi High School. He graduated from Findlay College in Findlay, Ohio, with a Bachelor of Science degree. He furthered his education after moving to California. He received a science scholarship to Occidental College in Los Angeles and earned a master’s degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. His service included an overseas assignment in Tokyo. He married Agnes Zilka on Dec. 26, 1953, and they moved to California in 1961. Tom was a teacher for 34 years and enjoyed officiating high school and college football, basketball and baseball games. He taught in Sycamore, Ohio, and Findlay College before moving to California. He loved horse racing and frequented Del Mar race track in California. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his uncle, Alex Nagy of Pinehurst, N.C.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Charleroi.
