Lawsuit settlement talks between the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania and McKeesport Area School District’s special counsel are looking bleak, according to Superintendent Dr. Mark Holtzman.
The district is hoping to reach an agreement with representatives for a group of 11 students who are attempting to establish a black student union at the high school.
However, after Wednesday’s school board meeting, Holtzman alleged that the ACLU “continues to be uncooperative in the talks with our special counsel.”
“I really thought we would be able to resolve this,” he said, “but right now it is looking like we aren’t going to be able to do that outside of court.”
