Five candidates seek two spots on Monessen council

Following a tumultuous year in Monessen city government, five candidates are vying for two council seats in this month’s primary election.
Incumbents David Feehan and Lois Thomas, and newcomers Donald Gregor, Joseph Gigliotti and Brett Lepresti, all Democrats, hope voters will nominate them for two, four-year terms when they head to the polls May 21.
As no Republicans appear on the primary ballot, the two candidates receiving nominations will likely win council seats in November’s general election, barring successful write-in campaigns from others.
