Denny Willaman knew it would take time for his Serra Catholic team to get into the flow on Thursday.
Traveling to Meyer & Middleton Park for a non-section matchup against Bishop Canevin, Serra Catholic got off the bus and was unable to get a warmup in before the rain started.
After a slow start, the Eagles (11-4) got into the groove, taking care of business and beating Bishop Canevin, 6-4, in a shortened, four-inning game. In the midst of a a 30-minute lighting delay, the coaches agreed to call it, knowing the impending storm and the lack of consequence of the game.
“It definitely took (an) adjustment,” said Chloe Honick. “It was hard getting off the bus and then going straight into the game. So it took a while.”
