Defense will be key for Eagles against talented Bulldogs

Serra Catholic has been to the WPIAL Class 2A softball playoffs five consecutive years.

However, the Eagles have never made it past the second round.

“It’s been a stumbling block for us,” said Serra Catholic head coach Denny Willaman of early eliminations.

But, before the No. 7 seed Eagles (11-4) can worry about getting past that barrier this year, they have to get past No. 10 Freedom (16-5) in the first round Wednesday at Montour.
