NBV replacing emergency management coordinator

North Belle Vernon will soon have a new emergency management coordinator.
Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to remove longtime coordinator Michael Parzynski from the position, citing his failure to attend regional Emergency Management Agency meetings on the borough’s behalf for more than a year.
Mayor Craig Ambrose said council has reached out to Parzynski regarding the matter many times, as former borough fire Chief John Garber used to regularly attend the meetings while holding the position.
“I’ve told him when the meetings are and he always says he’s busy,” Councilman Geoffrey DeWitt said.
