Yough boys, girls face Central Valley

The expectations were different, but the goals are the same for Yough’s baseball and softball teams.
A perennial power, Dutch Harvey’s softball team expected to make the playoffs and be a contender to win the WPIAL championship.
Meanwhile, the Cougars’ baseball team hadn’t made the playoffs the past two seasons. Having returned the majority of its starters, Craig Spisak expected his team to improve, but was uncertain about anything other than that.
Both teams are in the playoffs, and both teams will start their quests for a WPIAL title today.
The softball team, having gone 12-5, earned the five seed and will play Central Valley at 6 p.m at Peters Township.
The Cougars’ baseball team earned a two seed, and will also play No. 15 Central Valley at 4 p.m at Shaler.
