A Charleroi Area School District student is accused of bringing a weapon into the middle school.
Administrators were informed around 2 p.m. Tuesday that a student was in possession of a “handgun,” according to a letter to parents written by Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich.
“It is our practice as a district to keep parents and guardians informed about their students’ safety at all times,” the letter states. “…During their preliminary investigation at the school, police determined the student was in possession of a weapon during school.”
Zelich later clarified that the student, who was immediately questioned by police, had a pellet gun. He declined to provide any additional details about the student or the weapon.
