Only one incumbent will return to Monessen council next year, barring any successful write-in campaigns in November.
Councilwoman Lois Thomas, who was appointed by a panel of Westmoreland County judges in August, secured her spot on the Democratic ballot for the general election.
According to unofficial results from the Westmoreland County Elections Bureau, Thomas received 602, or approximately 26%, of the Democratic votes.
Newcomer Donald Gregor earned the second Democratic nomination with 575 votes, or just under 25%.
