Monessen council discusses upgrades to sewer system

Monessen council mulled its options for potential infrastructure upgrades Thursday.
For the past few years, residents have been paying an additional monthly line usage fee of $5 on top of their regular sewage bills.
Councilman Dave Feehan said previous estimates of how much the city should have in its account from the fees are inaccurate, as most households have multiple members counted as part of the overall population and “not everybody pays their bills.”
Solicitor Joseph R. Dalfonso said the city was previously given the option to begin a “retention tank project,” but it has not come to fruition.
