McKeesport’s Veterans Activities Committee is encouraging McKeesport residents to attend the city’s annual Memorial Day service, which will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
Committee members Mary Ann Goldie, Mc-Keesport Post 8 AMVETS Commander Tom Bergan, U.S. Army veteran Tom Maglicco, Army veteran Frank Tarli, Laura Jenkins and U.S. Navy veteran Bobbie Billsborrow have been planning the Memorial Day service.
Maglicco, who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, said he “would like to see the courtyard filled” at the The Lysle Boulevard War Memorial, which was recently cleaned and repainted. The memorial is located between Market Street and the Jerome Street Bridge.
Military honors, a flag raising and a wreath laying will be performed during the service. Several city and local community and spiritual leaders will speak at the service. All ages are welcome, and the memorial has wheelchair access.
