Write-in vote totals from the primary election in Washington County will be made public Monday, and the races in several municipalities could depend on the results.
Several communities did not have enough candidates to fill open seats. In Dunlevy, there are two open seats on council and just one candidate, Republican Matthew Claybaugh, who earned 19 votes in the May 21 primary. Three write-in votes were cast.
Similarly in Elco, there is one candidate and four open seats. Republican J.J. Cullen, who earned 19 votes, will likely be elected in the fall. Five write-in votes were cast on the Republican ballot.
In Fallowfield Township, a six-year term and a four-year term are up for grabs with only one candidate for both of them — Republican Joseph Sopchak. He earned 233 votes for the six-year term and 237 votes for the four-year term.
