Elizabeth Township board of commissioners President Andrew Kuzma said after Monday’s meeting that a pastor from a church in the Swiss Alpine Village shopping center has given the board something to think about.
The Rev. Mark Grice of Spirit Chapel Church presented the board with a rough proposal to turn a Chapel Drive property owned by the township into a recreation center that would be run and used by the church to provide the community with year-round recreational programs.
He said most of the events would be free for township residents, adding that money made from programs that are not free would be applied towards upkeep of the property and funding other community recreation initiatives.
Using a $450,000 state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant, the township purchased the property at 298 Chapel Drive in 2009 for $265,000.
