The doctors, nurses and leaders of UPMC McKeesport “want to get to know our neighbors in our own backyard.”
On Saturday, the hospital will partner with the churches of the McKeesport faith-based Call to Action community health team to host a free, first-ever UPMC Mc-Keesport Community Day. The event will be held rain or shine from noon to 4 p.m. at the Palisades at the McKees Point Marina.
Dawndra Jones, chief nursing officer and vice president of Patient Care Service at UPMC McKeesport, describes the event as a “healthy kickoff to summer,” adding that the hospital’s goal “is really to promote a sense of fun and community while raising awareness about healthy lifestyle options through free screenings, health education and access to local resources.”
Residents of McKeesport and surrounding communities of all ages are encouraged to attend, and Jones said they don’t have to worry about being bored.
