Trojans faced with ‘tall task’ against Big Reds

Over the course of the season, the California baseball team has taken on a mantra of sorts to treat every game like a business trip.
It’s a mantra that has served the Trojans well, bringing them a WPIAL championship and now to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs, where that business trip mentality becomes all the more important.
That focus, that straight-ahead attitude that the mantra speaks to becomes especially pertinent when the opponent becomes more and more foreign.
California will play West Middlesex today at Pullman Park in Butler at 1:30 p.m. in a PIAA quarterfinal contest.
The Trojans know West Middlesex is good, or at least the 20-1 record and District 10 championship speaks to that.
But beyond what can be gleaned from a statsheet, California knows little about its upcoming opponent.
