Eagles, Warriors, Commodores dominate Dirty Dozen awards
By the Mon Valley Independent
As the baseball and softball seasons come to an end, one of the things we look forward to the most is handing out awards.
On Friday, the Mon Valley Independent sports staff named the 2019 Dirty Dozen award winners ahead of announcing the all-star teams and the best of the rest next week.
One local baseball player and a softball player was selected for our four major awards: Breakthrough Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year. For the second straight year, the Mon Valley Independent has partnered with Aul Bat Co. of Pittsburgh to name the Aul Bat Co.- Mon Valley Independent Players of the Year.
Aul Bat Co. awards the players a personalized, hand-crafted and full-size wooden bat. They’re created in each player’s team colors and laser engraved with their accomplishment.
