A “new and exciting opportunity” awaits patrons of The Carnegie Library of McKeesport who cannot afford a summer vacation, according to Director Colleen Denne.
“If you’re interested in a free staycation for the entire family, look no further than your public library,”Denne said.
The library is running a program through a partnership with the Senator John Heinz History Center and its Affiliate Program to offer library card holders access to free admission to five unique historical sites or museums: Sen. John Heinz History Center (and its associated museums), Old Economy Village in Ambridge, Quecreek Mine Rescue Site in Somerset County, Historic Harmony House Museum in Harmony and the David Bradford House in Washington.
The program offers free admission for up to four people, as well as additional educational information about each “staycation” site. It also includes suggestions for other things to do around each venue, such as places to eat, shop, lodge and fill up the car.
