Heading into Tuesday’s PIAA Class 2A semifinal game, Serra Catholic had a chip on its shoulder.
After falling to Seton LaSalle in the WPIAL championship game, the Eagles felt mocked by their opponents and were out to prove they were not a team to be messed with.
“We were angry because we were mocked last game by their right fielder and that has kind of been our chant all week,” said Serra Catholic head coach Brian Dzurenda. “We just wanted to get out and play them tough and just feed off of that.”
Dzurenda and his team got the last laugh as Serra Catholic advanced to the PIAA Class 2A championship in State College by knocking off Seton LaSalle, 4-3, in a semifinal matchup at West Mifflin.
