A Port Vue woman was sentenced in federal court Wednesday to term of 72 months in prison for her role in a “New Jersey to Pittsburgh heroin pipeline.”
Krystle Baretto, 33, pleaded guilty to violating federal narcotics laws on Feb. 25 in Pittsburgh before United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon, who also imposed the sentence.
U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Baretto’s six-year sentence will be followed by four years of supervised release.
According to court records, federal investigators used wiretaps on 10 cellphones and conducted several controlled drug purchases to prove Baretto’s involvement in the opioid pipeline. Those wiretaps and controlled buys proved Baretto conspired to possess with intent to distribute and distributed more than 100 grams of heroin, Brady said.
