The write-in votes cast in Allegheny County in the 2019 primary have been tabulated and though little has changed in most races, one has seen a major shift.
In Elizabeth Township’s Ward 3, there is one seat up for grabs and two people filed to run for the spot — Democrat Wiliam Piper and Republican Andrew Kuzma. The race was uncontested in the primary because, in theory, both candidates would earn their party’s nomination with no other competition.
Instead, the write-in votes have revealed that Kuzma also won the Democratic nomination, receiving 121 Democratic write-in votes to Piper’s 114 votes. Kuzma also received 113 votes on the Republican ticket.
