Playing without one of its top players, AMD Industries head coach knew her team would have to play superb defense against Lee Supply and No. 1 overall draft pick Sara Aumer.
The 6-4 forward was a handful indeed, but AMD’s Julia Ogrodowski and CP Miller were the difference as the defending champions held off Lee Supply’s upset bid and escaped with a 36-30 win.
While Ogrodowski and Miller were fantastic defensively, AMD’s Kaelyn Venick (Trinity) took care of the offensive end finishing with a game-high 20 points.
“We played one game without her last week and it showed how much we missed her by having her out there tonight,” AMD coach Bria Rathway said. “She’s a great ballplayer and her teammates look to her to lead them. She communicated so well, always coming to me during free throws and talking on defense.”
