Mark Smith doesn’t mind being upstaged by the success of young Mon Valley musicians who are starting to find their way in the entertainment industry.
Smith serves as board president for Mon Valley Academy for the Arts, which is helping local entertainers find their big breaks.
The nonprofit’s mission is to provide arts and cultural programs in the Mon Valley, including professional showcases, classes, workshops, performances and exhibits.
The first undertaking of the group after its launch in 2016 was inspired by the former Twin Coaches Supper Club in Rostraver Township, which was destroyed in a fire in 1977.
