New Eagle Borough Council has directed Solicitor Tim Berggren to look into avenues the borough can take to combat the problem of multiple rental inspections of the same property.
Borough secretary Kimberly Koontz said the rental inspector has been going to inspect the same properties multiple times, which is costing time and money.
“He will go to the property, inspect, the property will fail,” Koontz said. “He returns, the landlord isn’t at the property, the landlord must be there, the inspector returns a third time. Sometimes, residents are already living there without occupancy.”
She added that the borough is finding residents moving into properties without occupancy permits. Berggren promised to look into the matter.
