A Fayette City woman is accused of animal cruelty after her dog allegedly died from the heat.
Leighann Pomplas, 27, of Coates Way, Fayette City, faces several felony charges for allegedly leaving her pitbull, Diesel, in 87-degree heat without food, water or shelter, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Washington Township police were called June 28 to the Pomplas home by neighbors who claimed they saw Diesel chained outside throughout the day and that he died around 4 p.m.
One witness told police he saw Diesel outside in the morning and when he saw him again around 2 p.m. the dog was barking strangely, police said. At the time, Diesel was running around the yard on a chain, the affidavit states.
