In more ways than one, Thursday’s triumph was a sweet one for Farmers Insurance.
Dana Zajicek’s squad overcame a 15-point second half deficit en route to an 87-74 victory over Campy’s Pizza, ending its brief two-game losing streak in J. Budd Grebb Memorial Summer Basketball League boys action at California Middle School.
Farmers (3-3), which lost the last meeting between the two teams, 87-66, in the season opener, earned a win over Campy’s for the first time since 2016.
“The first game was similar to this game. It was close the whole game and then they took a big lead at the end on us,” Zajicek said. “This time we seemed to do the same and we decided to play a little bit of defense to get us that late advantage.”
