Belle Vernon Area School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to hire a new high school principal and six teachers, who will all start working for the district at the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.
Dr. Michael Sable of Jefferson Hills is the new principal at a salary of $105,000, effective upon release of his current employer, the West Mifflin Area School District, and upon receipt of all required clearances and testing.
Sable has spent his whole educational career with West Mifflin Area. He started there alternating back and fourth between teaching second and fifth grades. After eight years in the elementary school, Sable became acting assistant principal, but was quickly promoted to the position of principal.
He held that position for a year, then was promoted to assistant principal of the district’s middle school when the elementary school he worked at closed. He held the assistant principal’s position for eight years before obtaining his most recent position as assistant principal and director of transportation at West Mifflin Area High School.
