Political battle: Local mayors duke it out at Mon River Festival

The mayors of North Belle Vernon and Belle Vernon squared off in a never-before-seen open-air boxing match last night as part of the Mon River Community Festival.
“Rumble by the River” drew upwards of 150 residents — a crowd made up of older couples, young families and boxing fans alike.
Long-time Monessen resident James McGavitt attended the event with his family and was impressed by the large turnout.
“In my whole life, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this park as full as it is right now,” McGavitt said.
