Geraldine A. Burkhardt, 88, of Donora, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Donora, on Feb. 17, 1931, daughter of the late John G. and Catherine Basista Andrews. Geraldine worked as a bookkeeper first for Wickerham’s Plumbing and then Dawn Supply. She was a co-owner of Frank H. Ries Roofing and Heating, which later became Burkhardt Roofing and Heating, with her husband George. She was an awesome cook and baker who loved sharing her talents by feeding the workers, mailmen, etc., regularly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Andrews, Jr. She is survived by her husband, George Burkhardt, whom she would have celebrated 69 years of marriage with on Aug. 12, 2019; children, Karen (Joseph) Oswald of Windsor, Pa., Rick (Deb) Burkhardt of Donora, Bob (Debbie) Burkhardt of Florida, Judy (Barry) Galiffa of Donora, Gerry (Don) Babines of Belle Vernon, Christie (Lou) Offerman of Donora, Barbara Burkhardt of Donora, Marijayne (Randy) Giovannucci of Monongahela, Lori Ann Burkhardt of Fla., and George (Kimberly) Burkhardt of Florida; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Frank) Kon of Donora; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township, Donora PA 15033, 724-379-6900, where family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Donora.
