McKeesport officials honored the late musician Jimmy Beaumont on Sunday by making sure his name is forever etched in the city’s history.
With his wife, Ann Carol Beaumont of McKeesport’s Meyer Park, in attendance along with his daughters, Stacey Schork of White Oak and Christina Shank of Penn Township, and several other family members, Mayor Michael Cherepko and council Vice President Jamie Brewster Filotei unveiled the street sign for Jimmy Beaumont Boulevard at the corner of Tulip Drive and Eden Park Boulevard.
The front man for The Skyliners doo wop band, Jimmy Beaumont was found unresponsive at his home in McKeesport’s Meyer Park neighborhood on Oct. 7, 2017. He was taken to UPMC McKeesport, where he was later pronounced dead at age 76.
Council unanimously voted at last month’s meeting to name the stretch of Tulip Drive in Renziehausen Park between Arboretum Drive and Eden Park Boulevard after the silky-voiced musician.
