Parishioners of McKeesport’s various ethnic congregations spent Monday toiling away in church kitchens across the city and at Stephen Barry Field in Renziehausen Park. They were preparing foods, dance costumes and decorations for today’s International Village festivities.
One of western Pennsylvania’s largest and oldest annual ethnic food, dance and music festivals, International Village, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. each night through Thursday.
As is tradition, a “food mall” has been set up where churches will sell delicacies from more than 20 nations to raise money for their congregations.
Also, dance troop performances will be held on Stephen Barry Field each night. Music and dancing will take place each night under the Andrew J. Jakomas Blue Top Pavilion. There will also be vendor and information fairs all three days of International Village.
