National Night Out set for Thursday in Charleroi
For the MVI
The second Mon Valley National Night Out will be held, rain or shine, on Thursday at Trustees Park (behind SPHS) in Charleroi.
The event will kick off with a parade at 5:30 p.m. The parade, featuring local police officers, emergency medical services personnel, fire departments and other local groups, will start at Second Street and proceed down McKean Avenue to Eight Street and turn into the Chamber Plaza parking area.
Following the parade, National Night Out will begin in the park at 6 p.m. This free public event aims to build relationships between police officers and the community. Local residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to meet Mon Valley first responders, along with other groups involved in anti-crime efforts throughout area communities.
National Night Out will feature music, food and children’s activities, including a bicycle raffle and face painting by Douglas Education Center students. Vendors, including drug and alcohol providers, will be available to share resource information.
