Severe storms caused the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Company to have a busy afternoon on Sunday.
Assistant Fire Chief Brian Billy said a severe storm with heavy winds ripped through the borough after 1 p.m. Sunday and caused “widespread damage.”
“The damage occurred from the 100 block of Furlong Avenue all the way down into Elco, but the majority of the damage occurred in Roscoe,” Billy said.
The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh said winds in the Roscoe, Bentleyville and California areas reached speeds higher than 60 mph.
Billy said trees fell onto two houses in town, a roof of a service entrance at the Roscoe American Legion collapsed and an awning at the Legion was ripped off the building by high winds and was set down near the war memorial.
