Caterino brings change to Greyhounds

The Monessen boys soccer team is going through a transformation.
Gone are 14-year head coach Sam Perry along with six starters. In are first-year head coach Donnie Caterino, a plethora of new starters and a different system of play.
“We are pretty inexperienced, which is what I wanted,” said Caterino. “We are introducing a new formation, a 4-2-3-1. This formation clogs the middle and if it works right, it’s a great scheme. The kids have taken to it and are running with it.”
The Greyhounds lost seven seniors, including five starters. Gone are four-year starter and defensive anchor Zach Evans as well as fellow defenders Dishon Howell and Marcus Tansmore. Goalkeeper Nate Lynch and striker Tyler Swann also graduated.
