A Washington Township man accused of breaking a dog’s leg and a police officer’s wrist earlier this month will stand trial in Westmoreland County Court.
Kenneth Warren Schultz, 26, of Lincoln Street waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals – causing serious bodily injury or death, aggravated assault, cruelty to animals, simple assault, resisting arrest or other law enforcement and harassment.
North Belle Vernon police filed charges with Magisterial District Justice Richard Kasunic. Schultz was charged Aug. 1 after Kayla Jean Paul told police he injured her 4-month-old teacup chihuahua at his home.
The female dog, Marbles, urinated on the porch, allegedly causing Schultz to grab her by the back of the neck and throw her into the yard “in anger,” police said.
