By the MVI
The Monessen Public Library hosted its first-ever custom car show Aug. 10 and it was deemed a success by organizers.
“The first (inaugural) Monessen Public Library Car Cruise was a wonderful event that brought together car owners and enthusiasts from all over the Mon Valley. The library board of trustees would like to thank everyone that participated, sponsored and attended, which led to a very successful and fun afternoon,” according to the trustees.
The car show, held at the Herman Mihalich Memorial Boat Launch, had 47 entrants and raised $2,100 for the library.
Those in attendance enjoyed a live DJ, lots of food, a bake sale, 50/50 raffle and an auction.
A sign listing all of the 28 car show sponsors is displayed at the library.
The library has served the Monessen community for 80 years, offering 700,000 items and resources available to library card holders. Offerings at the library include a Kid’s Eat Free program, a summer reading quest and an adult education program.
