Residents question Elizabeth Forward school board

Despite an outcry on social media this week, relatively few concerned residents chose to confront Elizabeth Forward School District officials Wednesday in the wake of the transportation debacle.
Of the approximately 50 people in attendance at Wednesday night’s public meeting, only three addressed the board.
EF students were slated to start the new school year today, but they will start Monday because of a court order from Allegheny County Judge Christine Ward.
The district filed a lawsuit against PA Coach Lines earlier this month after PA Coach informed EF administrators Aug. 2 that it would not be providing transportation services for the district in the 2019-20 school year because a contract agreement between the two entities had not been signed.
PA Coach has provided transportation for EF for the past decade. Its previous contract expired in June.
Ward’s order states that PA Coach must provide transportation service to the district for three weeks starting Monday.
It further states that the district and PA Coach have until Sept. 13 to negotiate the terms of a transportation agreement that would at least last through the end of the year.
