When Mike Collodi took over Elizabeth Forward’s football program five years ago, he had a plan.
Actually, he had two.
“I had a three-year plan and a five-year plan,” Collodi said. “My goal was to get 50 kids. We’ve increased our wins every year. We have two conferece championships in four years. We wanted to build it from the ground up and it’s really paid off.”
Collodi hit the 50-player mark this season, up from being in the high 30s at the end of last season. Of those 50, only eight are seniors.
“We could have 42 kids returning next season and adding that to another big incoming class, it could put us over 50 players again next year,” Collodi said. “It’s been really fun and looks promising for the program.”
