Gov. Tom Wolf announced Wednesday $13.7 million in grants will be used to upgrade 29 airports statewide, including a handful that service the Mon Valley.
Local airports benefiting are Pittsburgh International, Allegheny County Regional, Arnold Palmer Regional and Rostraver Airport.
State Sen. Jim Brewster, D-McKeesport said Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin was awarded $900,000 to upgrade airport buildings.
“Allegheny County Airport is a regional resource that enhances development potential throughout the Mon Valley,” Brewster stated. “An improved airport, in addition to the new Mon/Fayette Expressway and other local economic projects create business development opportunities for the area.”
