Demonstrators rally for — and against — the Coyle

The 300 block of McKean Avenue was bustling Monday afternoon with residents who want to save — and demolish — the Coyle Theater.
The push to save the Coyle was rekindled after the Mon Valley Alliance signed a demolition contract for the blighted structure last month.
The petition, started by Washington Township resident Melanie Patterson, has gained more than 1,500 signatures.
With the support of dozens of residents, Patterson took to the sidewalk in front of the theater Monday afternoon with yellow flowers and signs reading, “Honk If You Love The Coyle.” The group passed out informational flyers, shared stories and took photos.
