Monessen council is once again attempting to remove chronically absent Mayor Matt Shorraw and Councilman Gil Coles from office.
During a special meeting Thursday, councilmen Anthony Orzechowski and David Feehan and Councilwoman Lois Thomas unanimously passed a motion to ask state Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Westmoreland County District Attorney John W. Peck to file a quo warranto petition to remove Shorraw and Coles from office.
Shorraw has not attended a public meeting in nearly 16 months, claiming he is protesting “public corruption and white-collar crime.”
Coles made a brief appearance at one meeting in the past 19 months. Their terms are set to expire in 2022.
