William Alva ‘Bill’ Fell Jr. – Punta Gorda, Fla.
William Alva “Bill” Fell Jr., 68, passed away Aug. 13, 2019, in his home in Punta Gorda, Fla., following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in North Charleroi, on Feb. 9, 1951, son of the late William A. Fell and Thelma Van Kirk Fell of Belle Vernon, who survives. Bill grew up in Fellsburg and graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Navy he worked as a mechanic for Ryder Trucks in Norfolk, Va., for a number of years. He was also a professional scuba diver and moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., and opened a business “Bill Fell In The Water” doing general boat repairs and diesel and gas mechanics until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, scuba diving and karaoke. He was a very independent, funny, kind, generous and charming man. He made friends with everyone he met and was loved by all. He is also survived by his son, Brian Fell of Norfolk, Va.; sister, Kathleen (Harley) Sickles of Monessen; and his brother, David (Brenda) Fell of South Weber, Utah; nephew David (Cindy) Fell of North Huntingdon; and James Fell of Jeannette; his favorite niece, Heather Sickles Lusk of Roscoe; and three great-nieces and two great-newphews.
