With West Jefferson Hills School District abuzz over the opening of the new 300,000-square-foot, $95 million Thomas Jefferson High School, the question remains about what will happen to the now- empty former high school at 310 Old Clairton Road.
Jefferson Hills Council members hinted at Monday’s meeting that the building could be used as a community center.
The project would be a joint venture among West Jefferson Hills School District, which owns the empty facility, and Jefferson Hills and Pleasant Hills boroughs.
“Two of the high school’s gyms would be preserved, and there might be a walking trail,” Councilman David Montgomery said. “It’s a costly endeavor. The three of us have to talk and then we have to borrow money.”
